What to Expect
In order to determine whether Ultherapy skin tightening is the right treatment for you, your medical history will be reviewed and your skin evaluated. The Ultherapy machine, also referred to as Ulthera, scans the skin to identify all the separate layers of the skin. This makes the treatment extremely accurate, with pinpoint precision improving its efficacy and safety profile.
Your clinician will usually map out the treatment areas and then will repeatedly pass the Ulthera handpiece over the skin. To assist with your comfort levels, a topical numbing cream may be applied in order to alleviate any discomfort during your treatment, and analgesics can be provided if required. Patients will typically feel a hot, prickly sensation as the collagen-boosting energy is delivered under the surface of the skin.
The procedure can take about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area that is being treated. Patients can return to work or go home directly after their treatment and will not experience any disruptions to their usual activities. We will also provide you with specific aftercare instructions that you should follow as closely as possible, to make sure that you will achieve the best results and minimise any complications.
Most patients will only require one Ultherapy session, however, everyone has a different collagen-building process and biological response to the treatment, meaning that some patients may benefit from additional sessions. The number of Ultherapy sessions that you will need can be determined during your consultation, where a personalised treatment plan can be developed.
