Halo Resurfacing

Halo resurfacing is a state-of-the-art laser skin treatment designed to have powerful anti-ageing and rejuvenating effects on the skin. The advanced Sciton Halo device delivers both ablative and nonablative energy to provide a strong synergistic effect resulting in impressive results with quicker healing times and shorter patient downtime. The widely trusted procedure is able to be used all over the body and offers patients a comfortable yet incredibly effective experience.

Highly accomplished clinician Dr Lowe at MUSE Clinic is dedicated to providing quality treatment plans for each patient, achieving tailored, lasting results with precision and efficiency.

What is Halo Resurfacing?

As the world’s first hybrid fractional laser, the Sciton Halo provides powerful skin rejuvenation results with minimal discomfort and downtime. The laser works at a microscopic level, targeting two layers of the skin at the same time to correct numerous imperfections and create a rejuvenated look. By combining ablative and nonablative wavelengths, the technology creates controlled thermal injuries whilst kickstarting the production of new, healthy skin for visible results in a short period of time. The optimised treatment therefore maximises results and minimises patient downtime.

Due to the advanced technology, patients can see results after just one to two treatments. In comparison, other lasers take five or six treatments to see similar results. Halo can also be combined with our incredible BBL (Broadband light) technology for even more powerful results.

The Benefits of Halo Resurfacing

On a daily basis, our skin is exposed to harmful toxins and UV sunlight rays. Combined with the ageing process, these environmental aggressors can take a toll on the skin, causing damage at a cellular level and eventually leading to wrinkles, pigmentation, redness and blemishes, sallow skin tone and an aged appearance on both our faces and bodies.

Sciton’s Halo resurfacing device is designed to rectify a multitude of skin conditions and create a revived, more youthful appearance. The skin conditions that can be addressed with this quality treatment include:

  • Lines and wrinkles: The treatment stimulates tissue remodelling, firming the skin and reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scarring: Halo can reduce the appearance of scar tissue on the face and body
  • Sun spots and pigmentation: Patients can expect brighter, more radiant skin as Halo specifically targets pigmentation, dyschromia and solar damage
  • Poor skin texture: Tightening effects help restore skin smoothness and firmness
  • Enlarged pores: Reduced pore size helps give your skin a smooth, glowing appearance
  • Uneven skin tone: Epidermal renewal helps restore an even skin tone and create a beautiful Halo Glow

Halo Resurfacing Before and After

What to Expect

The procedure will be customised to each patient’s individual skin needs. It is regarded as a comfortable experience with numbing cream being sufficient for the majority of patients.

After the numbing has taken effect, we will apply the laser to your skin, administering bursts of energy into the surface and deeper dermal layers. The hybrid fractional laser creates micro thermal damage, which will trigger the natural wound healing responses in your skin and encourage tissue cell renewal and remodelling. This process allows us to target specific aesthetic concerns such as wrinkles and sun damage while regenerating the underlying skin cells. As a result, patients can achieve long-lasting revitalisation.

Since your skin cells will need time to regenerate, you may need to allow some time for your full results to become fully manifest. For best results, Dr Lowe may recommend multiple treatment sessions, depending on your skin needs and which skin concerns you are seeking to rectify.

Ideal Candidates

Sciton’s Halo resurfacing treatment is suitable for virtually all skin types and tones. It is best for people who wish to reduce the visible signs of ageing, address skin imperfections, and revitalise their complexion. Dr Lowe and the team will speak with you prior to your treatment session in order to ensure you are suitable before going ahead. This may include discussion about your health, past cosmetic procedures, and any medications you are taking. Good candidates are typically:

  • In good physical and mental health
  • Do not have active skin infections on the face
  • Have realistic expectations for the outcomes of treatment
  • Are willing to stick to a good skincare regimen after the procedure

A consultation with an experienced clinician at MUSE clinic is important in order to determine whether you are suitable for a Halo resurfacing treatment.

Results and Recovery

Following your Halo resurfacing procedure, we will give you instructions on how to care for your healing skin and encourage a satisfying result, including which products to use to support and protect your skin. General instructions can include:

  • Avoid direct sunlight
  • No heavy exercise until advised
  • Use gentle skincare products
  • Avoid wearing makeup immediately afterwards, but make up can be worn from 24 hours if needed
  • Try not to touch or scratch your face

Some redness, swelling, and heat may occur after treatment, which means some patients may choose to take time off work. After three to five days, the swelling and redness should subside and you may experience some skin flaking and dryness. These effects are normal and part of the healing process and should not cause concern.

During the healing process, your skin will begin regenerating and resurfacing your healthy skin, leading to a brighter, more even appearance. Within weeks, you should start to notice your skin becoming softer and smoother, with a reduction in fine lines and imperfections. Your skin will continue to improve in the months afterwards, and top-up treatments can help you optimise your results and gain a noticeably more youthful appearance.

FAQs

How do I know if I am a good candidate for Halo resurfacing?

If you are looking for a non-invasive, effective procedure to repair, resurface, and restore your skin, this could be the perfect treatment for you. During a personal consultation with you, we will be able to gather more information about your specific requirements and advise whether this treatment will best serve your needs.

How should I prepare for my Halo resurfacing treatment?

You can prepare for your skin resurfacing treatment by avoiding sun exposure and fake tanning. Our team will also recommend a comprehensive home skin care regime to ensure your skin is in optimal condition to repair and regenerate after the Halo.

What does the treatment feel like?

Dr Lowe and the team will endeavour to make your treatment as comfortable as possible. The Halo resurfacing laser may feel a slight tingling or prickling sensation, but with topical anaesthesia, most patients find the procedure generally comfortable.

How long will my Halo Resurfacing results last?

Results are long-lasting, and patients are able to enjoy a refreshed, youthful look for years after their treatment. However, the longevity of results can vary between individuals. For a younger skin, an annual treatment may be sufficient; for a more mature skin, we may recommend a couple of treatments a year to keep your skin in great condition. It is also important to continue your regular Forever Young BBL treatments to ensure long term skin health. You can also maintain your results by taking good care of your skin, wearing a high SPF sunscreen, and having a healthy lifestyle. This means staying hydrated, active, and eating a healthy diet.

Is there downtime with a Halo Resurfacing?

With all skin resurfacing there is some downtime, how much depends on the aggressiveness and location of the treatment.  Typically most patients experience 2-3 days of dryness, swelling, light shedding and MENDS during the healing process.  Day 4-5 there may be some residual MENDS but this is easily covered with makeup or tinted moisturiser.

Can I speed up my Halo Resurfacing recovery time?

Absolutely!  Our Halo Resurfacing treatments come with two complimentary Healite LED treatments.  Healite uses low level light to active the cellular recovery process, typically the first is two days post treatment and then the second two days later.

What is the difference between Sciton Halo and Sciton Moxi?

While both Sciton Halo and Moxi are effective laser treatments for skin rejuvenation, they cater to different needs and skin concerns. The choice between them would depend on your specific skin issues, their desired outcomes, and how much downtime you are willing to accommodate.

Is Halo Resurfacing safe for all skin types?

Sciton Halo Resurfacing treatments are safe for Fitzpatrick types I-VI.  This means every single skin tone can benefit from Halo. In the past, darker skin tones were advised against laser, but Halo is safe and and an excellent treatment option. The Halo laser settings need to be expertly adjusted to accomodate different skin tones to achieve a safe and effective result.
